Kollam: A case has been registered against a Plus Two student in the incident where his bike collided with another bike in Chitara. The action is for negligent driving and causing an accident.

The case was registered against a Plus Two student from Kanjiram and Moodu for negligent driving and speeding. The tragic incident happened around 3pm on Monday. While the Chitara police were inspecting the vehicle, the Plus Two students, who were riding their bikes without wearing helmets, were involved in an accident.

Their bike collided with another bike coming from the side of the road while trying to overtake the police at excessive speed. Shivan, 72, a resident of Chanapara, and Basit, a Plus Two student, were injured in the accident.

Police said the health of the injured Shiva and Basit was improving. Police suspect that the Plus Two student who was riding the bike involved in the accident was not old enough to get a license.

After clarifying the same, a case will be registered against the RC owner of the bike. Police say it is a common occurrence in the area for students to escape by speeding by bike without stopping the vehicle during a vehicle inspection.
