Two passenger cars collided near Bříství in Nymburk on Saturday afternoon. One person did not survive the accident, two others were injured. The cause was apparently failure to give way, said police spokeswoman Michaela Richterová.
The accident happened around 2:30 p.m. at the exit from the D11 highway. One of the drivers remained wedged in the vehicle, he was freed by the firemen and handed over to the rescuers. But the man succumbed to his injuries. His female passenger and the other driver suffered serious and minor injuries.
Police officers documented the scene of the traffic accident using drones. They will investigate the cause and circumstances of the accident. “They ordered an autopsy on the deceased to determine the exact cause of death,” the spokeswoman added.
There was also an accident in Chotoun in the Kolín region, where a 39-year-old motorcyclist crashed in the afternoon after going off the road and sustaining serious injuries. According to police, he was not wearing a helmet. The rescuers had to revive him, the helicopter transported the injured person to the hospital, said Michaela Richterová.
The accident happened after 2:00 p.m. Cologne police officers are investigating the circumstances. Due to the injury, the police officers could not perform a breathalyzer on the motorcyclist. “Therefore, a blood sample was requested from him to see if he was, for example, under the influence of alcohol or other addictive substances,” the spokeswoman added.
