Four men from Albania died in a serious accident on a large construction site in Hamburg’s Hafencity on Monday. Now the relatives of the workers should be helped.
“We have heard that Hamburg residents have asked how they can help the surviving relatives of the dead construction workers,” said regional manager Andre Grundmann from the IG BAU union in an interview with NDR 90.3. “As the Construction-Agrar-Environment Industrial Union, we have set up a donation account and will transfer every cent that goes into this donation account to the surviving dependents for support.”

Scaffolding with construction workers falls into the depths
The accident occurred on Monday morning around 9:10 a.m. on the large construction site in Überseequartier. A scaffolding with several construction workers on it fell from the eighth floor into an interior elevator shaft. It is still unclear why the scaffolding collapsed. Specialists from the State Criminal Police Office have started investigating the cause of the accident.
