BOLZANO. The statistical trend in reported accidents in South Tyrol (below the national average) highlights in the two-year period 2022- 2023 (equal to 14,907 and 14,259 respectively) a decrease of 9.45% compared to the data found in the two-year period 2018-2019 (respectively equal to 16,061 and 16,152).
Similarly, the data relating to fatal accidents are decreasing, falling from 21 in 2019 to 11 in 2023. With regard to occupational diseases, compared to 165 episodes reported in 2019, 148 cases occurred in 2023. As regards the situation relating to the production sectors most exposed to the accident phenomenon, these include construction, mineral extraction from quarries and mines, as well as agriculture.
The data were analyzed at Ducal Palace during a meeting of the Provincial Committee for Public Order and Safety on the priority issue of safety at work, chaired by the Government Commissioner for the province of Bolzano, Prefect Vito Cusumano.
The meeting was attended by the territorial heads of the Police Forces, as well as the President of the Autonomous Province of Bolzano Arno Kompatscheras well as the tops of Inps, Inali, Fire Brigade, Occupational Medicine Service of the local Health Authority.
Kompatscher, within the framework of the specific competences attributed to the provincial body, reiterated “the maximum commitment of the Council in strengthening prevention and training activities in matters of safety in the workplace, as well as in increasing inspection personnel”.
