Chinese astronauts have set a record by growing rice, a food grain, on the space station under construction.

In the space station being built in space by China, plants like rice and Thale cress have been grown artificially.

The Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) has been publishing research on lab-grown rice and Thale cress since July this year.

Among them, the scientists said that the trials of Thale cress and rice planting are going on smoothly in China’s Wentian lab module.

Thale grace seed produced four leaves and paddy seeds grew up to 30 cm during this research.

It is reported that these plants have been artificially grown in the space station being built by China in the space station, in very low gravity.

And in this experiment, it is reported that the experiment is being conducted by Chinese space researchers in an attempt to understand how plants behave in space where radiation levels are high.

CAS Molecular Plant Science researcher Zheng Huiqiong told CGTN that the two experiments will analyze the life cycle of each plant in space and explore how to use the microgravity environment to grow plants and increase productivity.

And crops can only be grown in an artificial environment that mimics Earth-like conditions, and “compared to flowering plants, we may find more crops suitable for space and microgravity environments,” Zheng said.

This is not the first time China has tested plant seeds in space. In July last year, China brought back the first batch of rice grown from seeds returned from space.
