The public media rejects the violent demands that, in defiance of the legal rules, repeatedly attempt to interfere in the operation of the public media, editorial freedom, program structure, and want to establish political hand control in relation to the public media. This is also against European Union rules
MTVA announced on Saturday evening.
According to the announcement published at MTI, “Peter Magyaragainst the allegations of a member of the European Parliament who was subject to criminal proceedings” in the period following the 2022 parliamentary elections, representatives of the opposition parties were invited to public television and radio programs a total of 6,764 times, but they accepted the invitation a total of 161 times.
The Tisza Party held a demonstration at the MTVA headquarters on Saturday afternoon. Party leader Péter Magyar wanted to read their demands live on public television, but they were not allowed in, so he did all this while standing on stage. The 16-point demands on the transformation of the public media sound like this:
- stop the propaganda, restore the public media,
- replace it Daniel Papp CEO,
- get the 140 billion budget of the institution in order, eliminate waste,
- restore the independent, independent Hungarian Telegraph Office,
- fire the leaders of the National Media and Communications Authority, elect new ones on a professional basis,
- restore equal political supervision over public media,
- representatives of the parties are invited to the public media in proportion to the results of the most recent national elections, under the same conditions,
- do not list or ban those who think differently politically and worldview,
- abolish the Ministry of Propaganda, stop the funding of propaganda,
- be the consequence if a press product is ordered by the court to continuously publish corrections,
- stop the program “News in a minute” that inserts Russian and Chinese propaganda into sports programs,
- restore the regional studios of the public media,
- news editing should be independent from the “Carmelite palace”,
- present all areas of culture regardless of ideology and political affiliation,
- the public media should be independent, fair, professionally demanding, and provide real information.
