Kochi: The police said that accused Arshad has confessed to the murder of a youth in Kakkanad flat. Thrikkakara ACP PV Baby said that Arshad committed the murder alone and financial disputes related to intoxication led to the murder.
The accused, who was in custody till August 27, was taken to the Kakanate flat where the murder took place and the police conducted evidence collection. The accused explained to the police that Sajeev was killed with a knife and the manner in which he was killed. Evidence will be collected in more places in the coming days.
Arshad is a regular drug user. He had taken money from Sajeev who was killed in connection with finding money for drugs. The murder took place in connection with asking this back. After this, the accused escaped from the flat, police said.
The murder took place in the flat where five youths, including Sajeev, lived on rent. The body was found wrapped in a plastic sheet and cloth and pushed into the duct of the flat’s waste pipes. The other three people in the flat came to know about the incident when they returned from the excursion.
