jpnn.comJAKARTA – The victory of Candidate Candidate 02 Afni Zulkifli – Syamsurizal in the 2024 Siak Regency Pilkada was sued by the incumbent pair Alfedri-Husni Merza at the Constitutional Court (MK).
Afni’s victory in the regional elections for one of the districts in Riau Province was dramatic because the difference was only 224 votes.
The first hearing of the Siak Regional Election dispute at the Constitutional Court was held on Thursday (9/1.2025). The case was heard by a panel of judges consisting of Suhartoyo (chairman) along with two members, namely Daniel Yusmic Pancastaki and Guntur Hamzah.
The Alfedri-Husni camp as the applicant believes that their narrow defeat in the Siak Pilkada was due to fraud in the form of structured, systematic and massive actions (TSM) carried out by the Siak KPUD to win Afni-Syamsurizal.
Other arguments for Alfedri-Husni’s lawsuit are the refusal to open the ballot box, double voting, and the large number of invalid ballots due to KPU fraud.
In that petition, Alfedri-Husni, who did not accept defeat, asked the MK to cancel Afni-Syamsurizal’s victory.
At the initial hearing regarding the dispute over the regional election results, the panel of judges asked the applicant’s camp for the reasons for the lawsuit.
“Is there a Bawaslu recommendation (on the grounds of the lawsuit)?” Suhartoyo asked the applicant’s attorney.
