Arriving at Real Madrid at the age of 7, the right-back, who grew up in Getafe, a suburb of Madrid, has played in all the categories of the merengues. His dream has been and still is to write his name in the history of the 13-time European champion.

A fast defender with a sense of anticipation and a perfect teammate thanks to his tactical intelligence, Hakimi put in some remarkable performances before joining Real Madrid’s Under-19 team.

The Moroccan international participated in the UEFA Youth League during the 2015-16 and 2016-17 seasons, reaching the semi-finals.

During the same 2016-17 season, Hakimi played 28 matches with the Real Madrid Castilla team (B team) which played in the Spanish third division. Author of notable performances, the young player is often called by the French coach Zinédine Zidane to take part in the training camps and training sessions of the Real Madrid A team alongside the big Madrid stars.

In the absence of Carvajal due to health problems, Hakimi made his debut on 1 October 2017 with the first team in a Spanish league match against Espanyol Barcelona. Two months later, he scored his first goal with Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu in a match against Sevilla FC which ended in a large victory for the Whites (5-0).

At the age of 19, Hakimi became the first Arab and Moroccan footballer to play and score a goal with Real Madrid in an official match. That same season, he proclaimed himself European champion with the Spanish team and was named among the 50 best young players in the world.

He participated in the 2018 World Cup with the Atlas Lions, which made him the third youngest player in the competition behind Daniel Arzani and Kylian Mbappé.

After Zidane’s resignation from Real Madrid in 2018, Hakimi saw his chances of becoming a starter collapse and decided to start a new adventure in search of playing minutes to continue his development.

His next step was Borussia Dortmund, where he played two seasons on loan. With the Ruhr team, Hakimi played 73 games and scored 12 goals, becoming one of the most important players in the Bundesliga.

Indispensable in Lucien Favre’s tactical plans, the player finished this season in the German championship as the sixth best passer in the Bundesliga with 10 assists in 33 matches.

At the end of his loan spell, Hakimi was in the sights of the biggest teams on the continent. He decided to join Conte’s Inter Milan for the next 5 years while keeping an eye on his dream of one day returning to Real Madrid.

Likewise, the club from the Spanish capital led by Florentino Perez has kept a preferential 5-year option on the Moroccan defender.

This clause allows Real Madrid to be kept informed by Inter Milan in the event of a purchase offer concerning Hakimi, leaving the Whites the possibility of equalizing or outbidding on the latter.

Achraf’s transfer to Inter Milan would be a good option to continue his progression before joining Real Madrid, explains the Spanish sports press, making it known that the plan outlined by the club from the Spanish capital is to recover the player in the coming years to occupy Carvajal’s position.

Everything suggests that the paths of Hakimi and Real Madrid have separated to meet again in the future.
