With training sessions, massive webinars for more than 13,000 people, forums and seminars, Achs has been working to ensure that companies and workers know more about the Karin Law and can move forward with its implementation with greater peace of mind.

On August 1, the Karin Law comes into force, which seeks to strengthen and add measures for the prevention, investigation and punishment of sexual harassment, workplace harassment and violence against workers. This legislation is a step towards creating safe, respectful and healthy work environments. For this reason, this mutual insurance company has been conducting in-person and remote training since February to inform about the changes brought about by the implementation of this legislation.

At these events, attendees’ questions are answered and some definitions are addressed on key points of the new law, such as the classification of certain behaviors to understand when to report. Behaviors that are classified with four variables: the exercise of power, frequency, intensity and the feeling of being a victim of these violences.

They have also been carried out Three seminars with ICARE with different focuses and aspects of this new regulation. In the first, carried out on June 17the legal modifications were explained. The June 26ththe issues related to the gender perspective that should be included in prevention policies were discussed and, finally, the 12th of July The definition of policies and protocol for the prevention of workplace harassment that all entities must implement was further explored.

What’s coming in the future

Discussing the different aspects of this Law allows companies and organizations to better implement it, and allows workers to feel supported and aware of their rights. It is in this line that the Achs has also assigned a space for understanding to Circular No. 3813, of the Superintendency of Social Security (SUSESO), which provides a standard manual, in order to create the necessary prevention protocol and policies.

“We want to promote the value of raising awareness of these issues, to integrate the fact that it is possible to prevent situations of harassment and violence, and to seek the technical advice offered by mutual societies to continue working together to build workplaces free of harassment and violence,” said Paulina Calfucoy, Manager of Corporate Affairs and Sustainability at Achs.
