jpnn.comJAKARTA – Acting Director General of Regional Administration Development of the Ministry of Home Affairs Amran led the Indonesian delegation at the 7th Annual Meeting of the ASEAN Smart City Network (ASCN) in Luang Prabang, Laos on Tuesday (30/7).

The Indonesian delegation consisted of representatives from the Directorate General of Regional Administration Development, Ministry of Home Affairs, Directorate General of ASEAN Cooperation, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Indonesian Embassy in Laos, Chief Smart City Officer (CSCO) from Banyuwangi Regency; Makassar City; Sumedang Regency as well as representatives from Parahyangan Catholic University, and ASECH Indonesia.

Amran delivered a summary of ASCN activities during Indonesia’s Chairmanship of ASCN in 2023.

According to him, the 6th ASCN Annual Meeting contains a Discussion Series consisting of 4 topics, namely Industry and Innovation, Quality Environment (Safety, Security, and Built Infrastructure, and Civic), Social, Health, and Well-Being.

At the meeting, Indonesia was also officially elected as ASCN Shepherd for the 2023-2025 period.

“During Indonesia’s Chairmanship, cooperation has also been carried out with external partners to expand investment opportunities through the implementation of the ASEAN-Norway Business, Policy and Stakeholder Engagement on Circular Economy and Smart Cities Solutions,” said Amran in his statement.

Meanwhile, the ASEAN Smart City Network (ASCN) is a platform for cities from ten ASEAN member countries to work together to realize smart and sustainable urban development by using technology as a support.

To date, ASCN has had 31 pilot cities to realize a common goal, namely smart and sustainable urban development.
