‘Activate common sense’: Police returned the weapon to the terrorist neutralizer

by time news

The weapon of the citizen, a resident of the young settlement ‘Asael’ in the Hebron Mountains, who neutralized the stabbing terrorist from Be’er Sheva, was returned to him this morning (Wednesday) – after harsh criticism from the police.

Why is it important to cooperate with the seventh census of Israel?

Advocate Adi Keidar from the Honno organization, who assisted him, said: “We welcome the fact that the incident is over and look forward to hoping that the police will learn the lessons and use common sense in the coming cases.”

Last night, one of the Be’er Sheva police officers was documented threatening the heroic citizen, after it demanded that his personal weapon be returned to him, after he showed up at the police station to testify about the deadly attack. The citizen refused to leave the police station without his weapon – and the police detained him.

The citizen filed a complaint regarding the threats circulated against him on social media, and needed his weapon for self-defense.

In light of the much criticism leveled at the police about the move, Commissioner Kobi Shabtai ordered that the ballistic tests for the weapons that neutralized the terrorist be quickly completed and returned to their owners as soon as possible.

Last night, the police justified the move and claimed: “Regarding the return of the weapons of the citizens who acted to stop the threat in today’s attack in the city of Be’er Sheva, we would like to clarify:

“The Israel Police praises the civilian response to stopping the threat in the deadly attack that took place today in the city of Beer Sheva. According to the law, the weapons were taken as usual to perform ballast tests, which are an integral part of the investigation of the incident.

“In order to prevent the mental anguish of the citizens who acted with courage and determination, the required tests will be carried out tonight and at the end of which the weapons will be returned to their owners.”
