A group of Cuban activists, led by Yankiel Fernández, coordinator of the Aliento de Vida Humanitarian Project, carried out an initiative to support rural communities in the province of Santiago de Cuba.

These activists delivered clothing, food, disposable diapers and medicines to people living in extreme poverty in villages in the Sierra Maestra and other remote areas of the province.

Images posted on social media showed the moment when residents received the donations.

In June, Fernandez put out a call on social media to collect donations for children and other residents of these communities, who lack the most essential things.

The activist also mentioned that many of these rural communities face the inaction and abandonment of the communist regime, highlighting the importance of the support received by Cubans to continue their work.

In addition to donations in Santiago de Cuba, project members distributed ham and cheese sandwiches to low-income seniors in Havana, as people on the island remain hungry amid poverty.

The Cuban also asked for help for a baby of less than two months admitted to the Maternal and Child Hospital Daughters of Galicia in Havana, due to her low weight, requesting formula milk so that the little girl can gain weight and be discharged.

The communist regime does not pay attention to the needs of the people who need to be cared for, since people’s income is insufficient to meet their basic needs.
