LOS ANGELES: Actor Will Smith, 53, has apologized for slapping ‘Hollywood’ comedian Chris Rock on the cheek at the Oscars.
The Oscar ceremony for ‘Hollywood’ films took place yesterday in Los Angeles, USA. Actor Will Smith won the Best Actor award for his performance in the film King Richard, accompanied by his wife, Jada Pingett.
Jada Pinkett, who suffers from alopecia areata, has a bald head and looks bald. On stage, ‘Hollywood’ comedian Chris Rock mocked actor Will Smith’s wife, Jada Pinkett, for mocking her head. Will Smith, enraged, slapped stage actor Chris Rock on the cheek.
Statement by actor Will Smith: My action on stage at the Oscars is unforgivable. If he had joked about me, I would have considered it part of my job. I’m emotional about my wife’s medical disability. Forgive me, Chris. I lost my temper and made a mistake.
My actions do not reflect what kind of person I want to be. I am ashamed of this.
