Kevin Spacey Returns as Frank Underwood for Christmas Video
About five years after “House of Cards” went off the air, Frank Underwood returns: The actor Kevin Spacey (64), who was recently acquitted of all charges against him for sexual offenses, resurrected the character after it was killed (oops, spoiler), as part of a special Christmas video he filmed alongside political reporter Tucker Carlson.
Spacey, who has been considered persona non grata in Hollywood for several years, after being accused many times of inappropriate sexual behavior back in 2017, has rarely appeared in public since then. However, every year since the sexual assault allegations, Spacey releases a Christmas video in which he speaks in Frank’s southern accent and discusses the issues of the day. This year, as mentioned, Carlson joined him, and the two discussed Netflix and the 2024 presidential election.
In the video, Spacey expressed his thoughts about Netflix, stating “It’s strange that they (Netflix) decided to cut ties with me publicly based solely on accusations, accusations that have now been proven wrong. I don’t think there’s any question at all. Netflix exists because of me. I put them on the map, and they tried to put me in the ground.” Spacey also attacked the US presidential candidates, making controversial comments about Mike Pence and expressing his admiration for Nikki Haley.
It is worth noting that Tucker Carlson is considered an anchor and political commentator from the Fox News network, who has faced legal action for spreading misinformation about the alleged rigging of the 2020 presidential election.
Spacey’s return as Frank Underwood in this Christmas video has sparked mixed reactions, with many questioning the appropriateness of his resurfacing in the wake of the allegations against him. Whether or not this marks a full return to the public eye for Spacey remains to be seen.
