Actor Michael Imperioli, widely known for his role as Christopher Moltisanti in the acclaimed television series The Sopranos, has recently made a bold statement on social media, expressing his disapproval of “bigots and homophobes” and stating that he does not want them to watch his work. Imperioli’s comments come in response to a recent ruling by the U.S. Supreme Court, which allowed a web designer to refuse services for same-sex weddings.

Taking to Instagram, Imperioli wrote, “I’ve decided to forbid bigots and homophobes from watching The Sopranos, The White Lotus, Goodfellas, or any movie or TV show I’ve been in. Thank you Supreme Court for allowing me to discriminate and exclude those who I don’t agree with and am opposed to. USA! USA!”

The actor further defended his stance on the matter by replying to comments on his post, asserting that “hate and ignorance is not a legitimate point of view” and labeling the court ruling as dehumanizing. Additionally, Imperioli expressed his concern for the direction the country is heading, stating, “America is becoming dumber by the minute.”

Imperioli’s portrayal of Christopher Moltisanti in The Sopranos garnered critical acclaim and earned him an Emmy award in 2004 for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series. The series, which aired between 1999 and 2007, remains a cultural phenomenon to this day. In fact, Imperioli, alongside the rest of The Sopranos cast, received a Screen Actors Guild (SAG) award in 1999 and 2007 for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series.

More recently, Imperioli joined the cast of the HBO anthology series The White Lotus for its second season, portraying the character Dominic Di Grasso. The show and its ensemble cast were celebrated at this year’s SAG awards, winning the Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series category.

Beyond his television work, Imperioli has also made notable contributions to film. In 1990, he appeared in the iconic crime film Goodfellas. Throughout his career, he has been featured in various other films, including Malcolm X (1992), Bad Boys (1995), The Basketball Diaries (1995), Clockers (1995), The Lovely Bones (2009), Oldboy (2013), Primal (2019), One Night in Miami (2020), among many others.

Michael Imperioli’s decision to speak out against discrimination and exclude bigots and homophobes from his fan base showcases his commitment to promoting inclusivity and acceptance. As an artist, he hopes to use his platform to stand up against hate and prejudice, urging others to do the same.
