The system measures stray light and adjusts mirrors in increments as small as approximately 10 picometers—about a tenth the diameter of a hydrogen atom—ensuring clarity for detecting exoplanets and cosmic phenomena (UPI).

Scientific Objectives and Impact

Roman’s primary goals include probing dark matter and dark energy.
