Will Smith, who slapped comedian Chris Rock for making fun of his wife at the Oscars, has quit the Oscars.
In a statement, he said his actions had come as a shock to him and others. He also said that it was not wise in any way. Smith said he had hurt many people, including Chris Rock. He also said that the Oscar system had betrayed the trust it had placed in him.
The Oscars accepted his resignation and said disciplinary action would be taken against him.
