At a celebrity special from “Get Out of Debt,” Tom Barcal got financial tips from Peter Zwegat. The RTL star’s death leaves him devastated.
Peter Zwegat became known in 2007 through the RTL program “Get Out of Debt”. In the coaching format, the debt counselor gave people in financial distress a helping hand. The trained administrator and social worker was known for his passionate commitment to his clients.
His death is all the more shocking now: As RTL reports via the German Press Agency, the TV debt counselor died on August 9th – “suddenly and unexpectedly,” according to the press release. Like many TV viewers, actor Tom Barcal is also mourning the RTL star. As part of a celebrity special, the former “Everything that counts” actor appeared on “Get Out of Debt” – and got to know Peter Zwegat as a special person.
When Peter Zwegat met Tom Barcal in 2018, the TV actor was living on Hartz IV and was in debt to three acquaintances. In total he borrowed 20,000 euros from each of them. In the t-online interview, the actor reveals that Zwegat was “very cautious” when they first met him. “But that changed on the second day of filming. Afterwards we were always happy to see each other – even hugged like friends. After filming, “Peter Zwegat kept asking me how I was doing,” reports the now 60-year-old. The two worked together for almost eight months at the time. During smoke breaks together, private topics also came up.
Not only was Peter Zwegat able to score points with Tom Barcal on a personal level, his participation in “Get Out of Debt” also paid off financially for the series star. “That really surprised me. I always thought a lot of things on this show were fake. But that wasn’t it. I was offered many good jobs after the broadcast, e.g. B. a big role in an ARD/ZDF series,” explains Barcal. He is happy that the events in the TV show were portrayed correctly: “They could have edited my show completely differently and portrayed me completely differently. But they didn’t do that.”
After Getting Out of Debt, Tom Barcal’s life changed. He is still active as an actor to this day. A year and a half ago, he and his wife landed the leading roles in Ralph Siegel’s musical “A Little Peace.” He is currently starring in the 1950s musical “Erdbeerbrause” and can also be seen in a leading role in the YouTube series “Die Kölnwache”. “I am very grateful to Peter Zwegat, the production and RTL for that,” says Barcal on t-online.
