British actor Tom Wilkinson died suddenly at the age of 75 at home accompanied by his wife and family.

Through a statement from his agent shared by the BBC, the artist’s family announced “with great sadness” that Wilkinson “has died suddenly at home on December 30. His wife and family were with him. “The family asks for privacy at this time.”

During his time in art, Wilkinson has left more than 130 film and television productions, ranging from historical dramas to other roles in front of a criminal gang, such as the film “RocknRolla” by Guy Ritchie.

In his six decades of acting, the artist was nominated for an Oscar for best actor for “In the bedroom” in 2001, and for best supporting actor for “Michael Clayton” in 2007.

However, it was the British comedy “The Full Monty”, from 1997, and his character of the reticent striptease dancer Gerald Cooper, who made him better known to viewers and awarded him the BAFTA for best supporting actor.

Precisely, a short time ago he had met with some of the co-stars of that box office and critical success on the occasion of the filming of the eponymous series produced by the Disney + platform.

“Batman begins”, “Shakespeare in love”, “Snowden”, “The ghost writer” and “The Grand Budapest Hotel”, were other works that enjoyed his talent, thanks to the call of renowned directors such as Christopher Nolan, Roman Polanski or Wes Anderson.

Tom Wilkinson was born in Leeds, northern England, later moving to Canada and Cornwall, southwest England, during his childhood. He then studied English and Literature at university and trained as a performer at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts.

On a personal level, his marriage to actress Diana Hardcastle was well known, with whom he acted in the miniseries “The Kennedys” and in the film “The best exotic Marigold Hotel.” With Hardcastle he had two daughters, Alice and Molly.

Among other awards and nominations, the actor has six nominations for the most prestigious awards in British cinema and another nomination for playing John F. Kennedy’s father in “The Kennedys.” He also received an Emmy Award for playing Benjamin Franklin in the miniseries “John Adams.”
