The trailer of the film was released last day. The trailer of ‘Laathi’ was released by eminent director Lokesh Kanakaraj at a public function held in Chennai. The trailer for ‘Laathi’, composed by ‘Pulimurugan’ fame stunt master Peter Hain, has become a sensation among fans within minutes of its release, featuring Vishal’s adventurous fight scenes and punchy dialogues.
The trailer of Lathi is making waves on social media by getting nearly 40 lakh views on YouTube so far. The character in this film is quite different. Vishal, who impressed the audience with his performances as police commissioner, SP and inspector on the big screen, is playing the role of an ordinary constable in Lathi.
Even though he is a constable, the trailer makes it clear that the character is not lacking in valor, eloquence and strength. Cameras by Balasubramanian and Balakrishna Thota of ‘Baahubali’ fame make the scenes magical. Debutant director A has created many emotional moments along with cool action scenes. Vinod Kumar has dressed up as ‘Lathi’.
Vishal has this to say about the film…
“I have acted as a police officer in many films before. If it was a normal character in this film too, I would have said no. It is a typical constable character. A constable’s job is to obey the orders of his superiors. As soon as director Vinod Kumar started telling me the story of Lathi, I felt that there was something new about it. As the father of a seven-year-old boy. He hesitantly told me to act. Say no and tell the story. The boy who played my son in the film is like a second hero. The last 45 minutes of high light scenes should be shot in one place first. I liked the idea. At first it started out normal. But then I heard every moment. I forgot myself as I listened to the narration.
Usually a movie has a climax. But this film will have four climaxes. The script takes another ‘U-turn’ at the moment when the protagonist thinks that there is nothing more to do in a scene. The film has turned out three times better than what Vinod said. It’s not just because it’s a film I’ve acted in. Peter Hein and Yuvan Shankar Raja are the two pillars of ‘Lathi’. “They played a big role in making this film so good”, said Vishal.
Lathi is produced by actors Ramana and Nanda under the banner of Rana Productions. The film is released in four languages Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Hindi. ‘Lathi’ is a police story with a mix of action and emotion. South Indian actress Sunaina is playing Vishal’s heroine in the film. Malayalam actor P. N. Sunny plays the powerful villain in this. Actor Prabhu is also playing the lead role.
Yuvan Shankar Raja is the music director. The songs of the film also caught the attention of the fans. Pon, who became famous with Karthi’s ‘Kaidi’ which was a popular film. Parthipan is the dialogue writer and co-wrote the screenplay with the director. ‘Laathi’ will hit the theaters on December 22 as a Christmas-New Year film. The film is being released in Kerala by Three Four Films.
