Many in Cuba remember Mauricio Colmenero, the bar owner in the Spanish series Aída, who stood out for his anti-communism.
Aída is considered one of the most influential television series in the Iberian nation and the bachelor Colmenero won the affection of the audience, including Cubans.
The actor who played that character was a fervent critic of Fidel Castro, the tyrant who plunged the Island into the most absolute misery and repression.
We still remember the scene in which the host of the Reynolds Bar makes Luis Ma (Paco León) write a message to the tyrant Castro:
“Fidel, you bastard, I shit on your communism. Your people don’t like you”.
But there is a long way from that anti-communist characterization to reality. Mariano Peña García, the actor, today makes a nod to the tyranny that he so criticized in his character.
Peña, along with Melani Olivares (Paz Bermejo in the series Aída) and other Spanish artists, is involved in a reality show that promotes trips to Cuba.
Olivares had already succumbed to the “charms” of the Greater Antilles and was seen bathing in Cayo Largo, in addition to assuring that “Cuba is a paradise.”

Olivares promised to return “soon, very soon” to Cuba, paradise of Oropouche and prostitution, where the body of a Canadian tourist ended up in Russia, or where the “5 star” hotels do not even have water for their clients.

Mariano Peña’s name appears on the roster of the reality show “Mi Primera Vez.”
The show will have Cuba as its main stage and will be a collaboration between the wholesale travel tour operator Enjoy Travel Group and the entertainment company Jazz Vilá Projects.
According to publications from the state press at the service of the Cuban dictatorship, Naomi Asensi (Temptation Island, Big Brother), Eduardo Navarrete (Masters of Sewing / Master Chef Celebrity), Sensillo (Got Talent / Idol Kids), and Carmen Alcayde (Here’s Tomato / Big Brother VIP / Sálvame) would be invited.
The event website mentions that “My First Time” will feature a diverse cast of artists, content creators and figures who will live this experience in two groups: Alpha and Beta.
Mariano Peña appears among the Beta Group, where other names stand out, such as actress Andrea Duro and singer Lolita Flores.

Regarding this “news”, the influencer Alexander Otaola, who has promoted the campaign from his program #NoTravelToCubawas not surprised by the prominence of Cuban actor Jazz Vilá, director of the “great reality show.”
“This person is now in Spain and has one goal: to bring tourists to Cuba”Alexander assured and mentioned the influencers and figures who would go to the Island.
“This is to motivate the Spaniards who are being eaten by the socialists and communists (…) to spend their money on the Prison Island”
Regarding Mariano Peña, Otaola said that he is a “deeply despicable” person, but he recalled that at least Mauricio Colmenero’s character said in the bar “Down with communism!”
Peña would travel to Cuba to “suck the communists in Havana”, He said during the broadcast of his program Hello! Ota-Olathis Friday, July 5.
“These are the people who were here (Jazz Vilá) and took up American residency and went to Spain to work and do tourism on the Prison Island,” the influencer remarked.
“It would be nice if Jazz Vilá could tell these lovely travellers about the conditions of the hotels in Cayo Coco,” added Otaola and showed photographs of a hotel facility on the Island.

About the reality show he predicted that “It will be a failure, because people do not travel to Cuba (…) We must prevent people from filling the coffers of the dictatorship and promoting lies,” he concluded.
