A professor at Kalashetra College in Thiruvanmiyur, Chennai has been accused of sexual harassment by female students. In response, the students held a sit-in protest to demand action against the professor and three others. The accused professor, Haripadman, has been arrested by the police and booked under three sections of the Prevention of Violence against Women Act. He was subsequently remanded in judicial custody until April 13 and placed in Puzhal Jail.
Actress Abhirami, who is an ex-student of Kalashetra College, held a press conference to address the situation. She stated that she was contacted by a Kalashetra teacher to speak against Haripadman, but she believes that he is a very good teacher who did not harm anyone until giving classes. Abhirami also expressed her disappointment with the information spread on social media about Kalashetra and believes that the students are being made scapegoats in this matter.

A sexual complaint has been filed against a professor at Kalashetra College in Thiruvanmiyur, Chennai. The female students staged a sit-in protest demanding action against 4 persons including the professor who were accused of sexual harassment.
Haripadman, a professor of Kalashetra College, was booked under three sections of the Prevention of Violence against Women Act in connection with sexual complaints filed by female students. Subsequently, the police arrested Haripadman, who was wanted in the case, in Hyderabad. Following his arrest, Assistant Professor Haripadman was ordered to be remanded in judicial custody till April 13. Following the court order, the police lodged him in Puzhal Jail.
In this situation, regarding the Kalashetra issue, actress Abhirami said in a press conference:-
“I too have studied in Kalashetra College. I am an ex-student of that college. I usually raise my voice without anyone telling me about any atrocities. I am pained by the information spread on social media about Kalashetra.
A Kalashetra teacher contacted me and asked me to speak against Haripadman. Professor Hari Padaman didn’t bother us till he gave us class. Kalashetra students are being made scapegoats in this matter. “Haripadman is a very good teacher,” he said.
