Actress and voice actress Simona Postlerová died, she was 59 years old. The newspaper Blesk and the Dvojka Srdcem Foundation, of which Postlerová was a patron, reported on this Sunday.
“It is with deep sadness that we received the news that the theater, film and dubbing actress, as well as the patron of our endowment fund from the very beginning, Simona Postlerová, left us forever tonight. Honor to her memory and sincere condolences to the bereaved,” said the fund, which was founded by Praha, on Facebook 2 to help people who have found themselves in a difficult social or health situation.
Deputy Mayor of Prague and former mayor of Prague 2 Alexandra Udženija from ODS, who initiated the creation of the fund, describes Postler as a great actress as well as a selfless and beautiful human being. “Words cannot even express my sorrow for this loss. I would like to express my sincere condolences to the family and all the survivors. Mrs. Postler, your life was an inspiration and a gift to all of us who had the privilege of knowing you,” she wrote.
Simona Postlerová was born on November 9, 1964 in Pilsen into an acting family. Already in childhood, she said, she knew that she would follow her parents. She studied acting at the DAMU in Prague and in 1987 got a job at the National Theatre. Since 1992, she has been a member of the Theater in Vinohrady.
She made her debut at the Ungelt Theater in 2005 alongside Alena Vránová in the production of Ladislav Smoček’s Pearl of Hollywood and I, and in 2017 she excelled there in the British dramatist Gail Louw’s play Miss Dietrich regrets. In it, her mother – a famous film star – was portrayed by her acting teacher from DAMU, Regina Rázlová.

Television viewers knew Postler from dozens of works. She acted in the TV series Boys and Guys, Hospoda, Chetnické humoresky, Hospital on the outskirts of the city after twenty years, or Ordinace v rozágárden. She has appeared in many films including the recent Tancuj Matyldo.

She also starred in nearly eight dozen mostly television films. They were, for example, Like summer snow, Night of the Shepherds, Castle in Bohemia, Mrs. Piperová intervenes, Divnolásky, One cat after another or Experts. Her last title was the film Together Alone.
In addition to acting, Postler was an accomplished dubbing artist and reciter. In 2002, she won the František Filipovský Award for the best female acting performance in dubbing, when she took on the role of actress Emma Thompson in the film Joke. She lent her voice to, for example, Cate Blanchett as the lady of the elves Galadriel from the Lord of the Rings series or Monica Bellucci in the films Matrix Reloaded and Matrix Revolutions.
She also dubbed for Samantha Carter in Stargate, Lorelai Gilmore in Gilmore Girls, Annie Hacker in Sure, Minister and Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany’s.
Simona Poslerová was married to the musician Zdeňko Hrášek, who died in 2016. From the marriage, she already had an adult son, Damián, and a daughter, Jana Magdaléna. Her brother Alexander Postler is also an actor.
