India’s National Film Award winning Bollywood actress Rehana Sultan is seriously ill. He recently underwent surgical heart valve replacement. Due to economic crisis, his treatment was delayed. In this situation, his colleagues extended a helping hand.
Indian Film and Television Directors Association (IFTDA) President Ashok Pandit told The Indian Express that film directors Rohit Shetty, Ramesh Taurani and noted lyricist Javed Akhtar have extended financial support for actress Rehana Sultan’s treatment.
Ashok Pandit told Indian Express, ‘Rehana Sultan is not good. He has been contacting me for several days. He had heart problems, he had heart valve problems. A few days ago he felt physically ill. Then her brother Rishabh Sharma called me and said that Rehana Sultan is seriously ill and has been admitted to the hospital. He is unable to get treatment due to economic crisis.’
Ashok Pandit, president of the Indian Film and Television Directors Association (IFTDA), contacted the hospital authorities after hearing about the illness of 73-year-old Rehana Sultan. After the intervention of IFTDA, the hospital authorities started to continue the treatment even after not depositing any money.
Ashok Pandit said about financial assistance, ‘I called Rohit Shetty, Ramesh Taurani, Javed Akhtar Sahib, Rajen Sahani, Sunil Bohra, Vipul Shah, television producer Rajan Shahi. Very quickly they deposit the money in the hospital account for the treatment.’
Talking about Rehana Sultan’s physical condition, Ashok Pandit said, ‘Rehana Sultan’s surgery has been successful and her physical condition is now stable. We will be by Rehana Sultan’s side in any problem in the future.’
Rehana Sultan entered Bollywood in 1970 with the movie ‘Chetna’. He acted in the movie ‘Dastak’ in the same year. The actress won the National Film Award of India for the second film of her career. The popular actress of the seventies and eighties acted in 33 movies in her career.
