Actresses Ramya Krishnan and Meena Condemn Criticism of Telugu Desam Party Executive Bandaru Satyanarayana Rao
Actresses Ramya Krishnan and Meena have strongly condemned the criticism faced by Telugu Desam Party executive and former minister Bandaru Satyanarayana Rao for his role in the film “Roja Abasa.”
The controversy stems from the recent arrest of former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh and Telugu Desam Party leader Chandrababu Naidu in a corruption case. Actress and Andhra State Tourism Minister Roja, along with volunteers, celebrated Naidu’s arrest by bursting firecrackers.
In response to this, Bandaru Satyanarayana Rao criticized Roja for her role in the film “Aabasa” and even showcased a video of her acting in the assembly. Women’s organizations and social activists have strongly opposed his actions.
Roja addressed the issue in an interview, expressing her disbelief at being labeled as an actress in a pornographic film without any evidence presented. She also criticized Nara Lokesh and Chandrababu Naidu for not condemning Bandaru’s comments.
Lokesh, without any shame, supported Bandaru’s comments, raising concerns about the challenges faced by women entering politics. Roja broke down in tears during a press meet, questioning why she was blamed despite campaigning for their party.
Adding fuel to the fire, Telugu Desam Party’s female leader Anitha stated that this was just the trailer and that they would soon release the full pornographic film of Roja.
In the midst of the controversy, voices have emerged in support of actress Roja. Actress Radhika was the first from the film industry to speak out.
Actress Ramya Krishnan also expressed her support for Roja in a video release, condemning Bandaru Satyanarayana’s comments. She expressed her anguish as a friend and woman, questioning whether this reflects feminism in India, the world’s 5th largest economy. She emphasized the need for women and men to stand against violence towards women and called for Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take action.
Actress Meena also released a video in support of Roja, expressing her anger and disappointment towards Bandaru Satyanarayana’s comments. She highlighted the progress made by women and urged him to publicly apologize and acknowledge his mistake.
