There is only a small glimmer of hope for the suffering population in Gaza: On Monday, for the first time, 24 truckloads of relief supplies were able to pass through the Kerem Shalom border crossing, which connects Israel with the Gaza Strip. Until now, Israel had blocked any processing of aid deliveries on its own territory. Kerem Shalom is the border crossing where most imports into Gaza were processed before the start of the war. Humanitarian organizations had long complained that the Egyptian Rafah border crossing was too small to deliver sufficient aid.
