400 million dollars will be available from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) by December this year as part of the budget support. ADB will provide another 500 million dollars by March next year as part of the reform of various sectors including banks.
On Sunday (September 15), the delegation of ADB assured to provide this financial assistance by meeting with Finance Advisor Salauddin Ahmed at the Secretariat.
The meeting was attended by ADB Senior Advisor Edimon Ginting, Country Director Huey Yun Zhuang, Deputy Country Director Xiangbo Ning.
After the meeting, the financial adviser said that ADB is one of the financing partners of Bangladesh. In today’s meeting we discussed the Climate Fund and other climate projects. Apart from this, cooperation in various fields of trade was also discussed.
ADB has assured to continue its ongoing financing projects. Besides, we discussed various medium and long term project plans.
An official present at the meeting said that the 400 million dollars that ADB is supposed to provide for budget support on the occasion of LEDC graduation will come by December.
Apart from this, support for reforms in banking and other sectors was discussed. ADB will give 500 million dollars in this sector by next March. Apart from this, Bangladesh has asked for a budget support of one billion dollars for the development of the energy sector.
Finance Secretary Khairuzzaman Majumder and officials of Economic Relations Department were present in the meeting.
