Under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, a high-level meeting was held regarding the reforms of the electricity sector and solar energy in the country, in which Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Federal Ministers Jam Kamal Khan, Sardar Owais Khan Leghari, Ahsan Iqbal, Ahad Khan Cheema, Attaullah Tarar, Minister of State Ali Pervez Malik and relevant senior officials participated.
In the meeting, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif ordered action against the officers and officials who added extra units to the bills of electricity consumers, he directed the Power Division to immediately suspend such officials and officers of the distribution companies and FIA against them. Directed to investigate, the anti-public officers and officials who wronged the consumers by artificially adding extra units of electricity to the bill should be punished.
He said that the officials and officers who added more units in the bills of protected consumers below 200 units should be exposed in front of the nation.
In the meeting, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif directed to speed up the steps to generate electricity from renewable sources in the country. The burden of the measures will not be borne by the poor people, he said that the production of electricity from low-cost renewable sources will give relief to consumers in the bills, and the inefficient government factories that generate expensive electricity from imported fuel in the country should be immediately stopped. be closed as
The Prime Minister further said that the whole world is generating electricity from renewable energy, Pakistan has a vast capacity to generate electricity from solar sources, steps should be taken on a priority basis to take full advantage of the potential of solar energy.
