Adele was pregnant at the peak of her career. But that didn’t stop the 35-year-old from her success.
Adele (35) became a mother at the height of her career. It could have been a “career suicide,” the singer said in her speech at the entertainment gala on Thursday von “The Hollywood Reporter”. There she won “The Sherry Lansing Leadership” Award and reminisced in her acceptance speech.
Pregnant at climax
The 35-year-old spoke about her path to success and revealed what pregnancy meant to her around eleven years ago: “Overnight it was as if I had become famous. It was the strangest and most surreal experience of my life, to this day,” says the singer. Being pregnant during that time “would have been career suicide for many – and was viewed as such,” she said.
Adele swims against the tide
However, she realized that she doesn’t have to choose: “I can perhaps be a hit both on and off stage.” The “Rolling in the Deep” singer is proud that she managed to do both and continues to do so to this day. She expressed gratitude for “all the sacrifices women before me have made” that made her success possible.
The Grammy winner has been dating sports agent Rich Paul (41) since 2021. Son Angelo comes from his relationship with ex-husband Simon Konecki (49).
