Adif calls for the project to electrify the current Talayuela-Toledo railway line

by time news

The public entity for railway facilities, Adif, has put out to tender the drafting of the project to electrify the Madrid-Cáceres conventional line in the 157 kilometers that go from Illescas (Toledo) to Talayuela (Cáceres), some work that will be worth partly for the future high-speed line Madrid-Extremadura-Portuguese border.

With this, the announcement made last summer by the Minister of Transport, Mobility and the Urban Agenda, Raquel Sánchez, begins to come true, that in order to advance in this railway corridor, the conventional line on which the trains currently run would also be electrified, between Extremadura and Madrid (Human).

Notwithstanding the The deadline for the drafting of this first project that is now being announced is very long, 36 months after it is awarded this spring.

The official announcement of the tender for Talayuela-Illescas has been made this Monday and in it Adif calls for technical assistance for a company to draft the environmental document, and the technical project for the electrification of the railway line 500 (Madrid-Cáceres) in that stretch, to build traction substations, electrical transformation centers, high voltage lines, and the overhead line of contact with the trains.

In Talayuela it connects with the LAV

will be two traction substations both in the province of Toledo, those of Torrijos and Calera, both of the high-speed type, 220 kV / 2×25 kV; 220 kV high voltage line connection to Torrijos from the substationthe general transmission network of Red Eléctrica de Torrijosand 50 kV connection lines between said traction substations and the railway line to be electrified.

The traction substations will be designed to serve the conventional line L500 (Madrid-Cáceres) currently in use between Monfragüe/Plasencia, Talayuela, Illescas, Humanes (where it is already electrified) and Madrid, and also provide service to the new high-speed line L026 Madrid-Extremadura-Portugal projecting the necessary cabins.

The feasibility of implementing and designing the autotransformation centers to provide service to both railway lines (conventional and high-speed) will also be studied in the project that is now being tendered.

The project also includes the contact airline and the associated Illescas-Talayuela systems, approximately 157 kilometers of single track with five stationsIllescas, Torrijos, Montearagón, Talavera de la Reina and Oropesa de Toledo.

The drafting period for the project is very long, 36 months after it is awarded this spring (bids will be opened in April); and then you also have to wait for environmental approval, and adjudication and completion of the work.

Only the Illescas-Talayuela section is contemplated because Madrid-Humanes already has electricity, Humanes-Illescas will be the subject of another work and duplication of track to extend the vicinity of Madrid to that Toledo dormitory town, and from Talayuela it connects with the high-performance line (future high speed) under construction to Monfragüe/Plasencia, and basically finished and next to be electrified between that point and Badajoz.

The total budget of this technical consultancy that is now announced and tendered is 1,371 million euros, VAT included.
