Adif has postponed the works for the execution of the high-speed tracks between Alcázar de San Juan and Manzanares, in Ciudad Real, with the aim of undertaking actions in the security facilities beforehand.

Sources from the public company that manages the railway infrastructure in Spain have explained that the intention with this change is to improve the functionality of the network during provisional situations.

For this reason, it has made the decision not to formalize the contract and launch the drafting of the construction project and execution of the adaptation works of the banalized automatic lock in the Herrera de La Mancha-Manzanares section.

The tender for this last file was published in the Official State Gazette on January 14, 2023 and the forecast for awarding and signing the contract is expected in the third quarter of this year. Once this reconsideration is addressed, Adif will tender again the works of the tracks of the section between Alcázar de San Juan and Manzanares.

In the now canceled contract, a temporary joint venture between Dragados (ACS) and Tecsa achieved the best technical score, although its economic offer was not the lowest. Acciona, Comsa, Vías y Construcciones, FCC, OHLA-Guinovart-EYM, Ferrovial-Elecnor and Sacyr also entered the contest.

Now, Adif will have to compensate each bidder for the expenses they have incurred, after their accreditation, up to a limit of three per thousand of the base budget for the contract, which was 41.2 million euros.

For her part, in the new open competition for automatic blocking, Enyse has taken the lead in the technical qualification. CAF Signaling, Thales-GTS, FCC-Siemens and Alstom-Instalaciones y Técnicas Eléctricas Asturianas have also bid for this €18.2 million contract.
