Novaya Gazeta calculated in which regions and how much budget funds are spent on religious items. The Nizhny Novgorod region came to the first place in piety – almost one and a half million rubles were spent there for the purchase of icons in five years.
The Arkhangelsk region took an honorable second place – the governor’s team is massively buying up images, spending almost a million budget rubles on them.
In what mode and with what intensity do the inhabitants of the house with the deer and the regional representative office under the federal government cross themselves and beat them with their foreheads? For five years, five orders have been placed on the State Services with a total value of almost a million rubles. This year alone, the governor’s dream team bought two icons for 65 thousand rubles.
In 2018, pilgrims in jackets bought the icon of the Archangel Michael for as much as 82 thousand, which clicked on the nose even of their colleagues in Nizhny Novgorod, who distinguished themselves in terms of piety – the icon turned out to be the most expensive one bought by the regional authorities over a five-year period.
And a year earlier, the most expensive order for all time appeared on the State Procurement website – the governor’s administration slobbed 345 thousand from the liquid budget of the Arkhangelsk region for seven images.
Only the officials are thinking about the soul or getting ready for something about which they are mysteriously silent. It is not surprising if an ark is being built in secret somewhere in the forest in the area of the governor’s residence – then one can explain why forests are massively cut down in the region.
