Riyadh: Passport officials say those who do not return home from Saudi Arabia on holiday will not be able to return to the country for three years. Those who leave the country on an exit re-entry visa and do not return after the expiration date are barred from entering Saudi Arabia for three years.

But you can come back with the new visa of the old sponsor. The three-year period is calculated from the expiration date of the re-entry visa. This rule does not apply to dependent (family) visa holders. Holders of such visas will not be barred from re-entry even if they return home on the re-entry visa within the stipulated time.

Saudi labor courts have completed trials in 1,68,000 cases

Riyadh: Saudi Arabia’s labor courts have completed 1,68,000 labor cases in three and a half years, according to the Ministry of Justice. Labor cases are heard by labor courts in major cities and by special benches set up in general courts in other cities and provinces.

The Labor Courts in Saudi Arabia started functioning in November 2018. Prior to the establishment of the Labor Courts under the Ministry of Justice, the Labor Dispute Resolution Committees under the Labor Offices functioned similarly to the Labor Courts. Last year, Labor courts handed down more than 63,000 judgments. So far this year, more than 20,000 labor cases have been heard and verdicts pronounced.

Over the past three-and-a-half years, more than 60,000 of the cases in which labor courts have completed trials and pronounced verdicts are related to wages. Thirty-five per cent of employment cases in which courts have pronounced judgments fall into this category.
