Chennai,

AIADMK general body meeting was held on the 23rd in Vanakaram, Chennai. Shanmugam, a member of the General Committee, filed a case in the Chennai High Court seeking an injunction against the meeting.

A separate judge hearing the case refused to bar the public hearing, saying he could not intervene. The two-judge bench of the apex court, which heard the appeal filed by Shanmugam against the order, ruled that only 23 resolutions could be passed in the General Assembly as already planned and other matters could be discussed but no decision should be taken.

Following this, at the AIADMK general body meeting held on the 23rd, 23 resolutions were rejected, said a member of the general body and former minister C.V. Shanmugam announced. It was also announced that the decision to appoint Tamil Magan Hussain as the AIADMK permanent chairman would be taken and that the next general body meeting would be held on July 11.

AIADMK co-ordinators Edappadi Palanisamy, CV Shanmugam, Jayakumar, Munusamy and Tamil son Hussein have filed a petition in the Chennai High Court under the Contempt of Court Act alleging contempt of court and contempt of court order.

The petition also sought an injunction restraining the AIADMK general body meeting scheduled for July 11 and the appointment of its chairman, as the AIADMK had directed the co-ordinator and co-coordinator to announce the general body meeting.

A two-judge bench was asked to hear the contempt of court case as a matter of urgency.

The judges, who agreed with the request, agreed to hear only the contempt of court case related to the public hearing that has already taken place next Monday.

However, they have categorically refused to accept the petition, saying it will not be able to hear the petition seeking an injunction before the General Assembly on July 11.

With this, only the contempt of court case is scheduled to be taken up for hearing before the two-judge session on July 4.

The AIADMK general body meeting is expected to be held on July 11 at a private hall in Vanakaram as the court has ruled that the AIADMK general body cannot be barred. Pre-arrangements are in full swing in the hall where the general assembly will be held.
