As expected, Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkumar Rao’s horror-comedy ‘Stree 2’ is going to rock on the opening day. There is tremendous enthusiasm among the audience about this sequel of ‘Stree’ released in 2018 and the pre-sales figures are testifying to this. ‘Stree 2’ has earned so much from advance booking by Tuesday morning itself, as much as some recently released films could not earn even on the opening day. While the advance booking is going to continue on Tuesday and Wednesday as well. On the other hand, Akshay Kumar’s multi-starrer ‘Khel Khel Mein’ and John Abraham’s ‘Veda’ are also releasing on August 15. But the advance booking figures of both these films are going to be disappointing. ‘Stree 2’, directed by Amar Kaushik, is the biggest Bollywood film of this month. Looking at the craze of the film at the box office, it is also going to get the maximum number of screens in theaters. The situation is such that about 50% of the shows in multiplexes and single screen theatres are going to be of ‘Stree 2’. While the remaining 50% shows are to be divided between ‘Khel Khel Mein’ and ‘Veda’ along with two South pan India releases ‘Thangalan’ and ‘Double Smart’.
2.21 lakh tickets of ‘Stree 2’ have been sold, two days left
According to the report of sacnilk, till the morning of 13th August, ‘Stree 2’ has sold 2 lakh 21 thousand 508 tickets for the opening day (excluding previews). With this, the film has earned Rs 6.87 crores even before its release. Two more days of advance booking are yet to be done. While the film will be released regularly on 15th August, preview shows have also been arranged in some theatres on the evening of 14th August, which will generate additional earnings.
‘Stree 2’ will beat ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ on opening day
The pre-sales trend of ‘Stree 2’ indicates that the film will hit the theatres with an advance booking of 10+ crores before its release. It will also get the benefit of the holiday on 15th August. Hence, the film can earn Rs 25-30 crores in the country on the opening day. This will be the biggest and best opening in Hindi this year. Because Hrithik Roshan’s ‘Fighter’ and Prabhas’ ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ both did a business of Rs 22.50 crores in Hindi on the opening day.
This is the condition of advance booking of ‘Khel Khel Mein’ and ‘Veda’
On the other hand, Akshay Kumar, Vaani Kapoor, Fardeen Khan, Taapsee Pannu, Amy Virk starrer ‘Khel Khel Mein’ and John Abraham-Sharvari Wagh’s ‘Veda’ are in a bad shape. Both these films have not earned even Rs 30 lakh from advance booking yet. Till Tuesday morning, only 5547 tickets of ‘Khel Khel Mein’ have been sold, which has earned Rs 22.61 lakh. While 10506 tickets of ‘Veda’ have been sold and it has earned a total of Rs 29.97 lakh. There is also a competition between both the films to get more and more screens.
The future of ‘Khel Khel Mein’ and ‘Veda’ will be decided over the weekend
There is no doubt that ‘Stree 2’ is way ahead of others in the race of earnings on the opening day. But the real future of the film will be decided by the weekend. The way the trailer and songs have received response, ‘Stree 2’ has every chance of becoming a blockbuster. Whereas Akshay’s ‘Khel Khel Mein’ may benefit in the festive atmosphere due to being of comedy genre. But it depends on whether it is successful in making the audience laugh or not.
