He noted that this strategy will help hospitals have a more complete analysis of their management, productivity and process efficiency, with the aim of improving the quality of health care nationwide.

Minister Ruales thanked the support of PAHO and the technical advice given to the team of this State portfolio. “PERC is a tool to improve the flow of information and also make administrative processes transparent”; he assured him.

Hospital managers, together with their work teams, will have the responsibility of developing capacities to strengthen the health services network, based on evaluations of performance, production, human resources, expense concepts, and inputs.

The first phase, which will run until December 2023, is aimed at 25 hospitals, the largest in the country, and this Monday began training for officials in Quito. These health establishments manage 78% of the total budget.

This transformation of the health approach is part of the Ten-Year Health Plan 2022-2031, where one of the goals is to optimize resources and public spending.

Over the past 15 years, the MGPSS technical cooperation process has been strengthened by implementation experience in countries such as Chile, Colombia, Panama, Honduras, Guatemala, El Salvador, and now Ecuador.
