jpnn.com – Thailand is on the verge of a crazy record after successfully gaining a foothold in the 2024 AFF Cup final.
The War Elephant Team advanced to the top after winning 4-3 on aggregate over the Philippines in the match which was held at Rajamangala Stadium, Bangkok, Monday (30/12/2024) evening.
Even though they acted as guests, the Philippines were able to provide tough resistance to Thailand.
The Azkals -the nickname of the Philippine National Team- was even able to force the match to continue into the final round extra time.
Thailand is indeed required to win this match to reverse the situation after losing 1-2 to the Philippines in the first leg.
Masatada Ishii’s team finally managed to advance to the final thanks to goals from Peeradon Chamratsamee (37′), Patrick Gustavsson (54′), and Suphanat Mueanta (116′).
The Philippines’ only goal came through the action of Bjorn Martin Kristensen (84′).
