Following the arrival of coal, 2 more units of the Thoothukudi Thermal Power Station have started generating electricity. Earlier, due to shortage of coal, only the first unit was generating power yesterday. The Thoothukudi Thermal Power Station is generating 1,050 MW per day from 5 units with a capacity of 210 MW each. The Thoothukudi Thermal Power Station is not getting enough coal due to the shortage of coal in the country. Thus power generation here has been frequently affected due to the recent shortage of coal.

Meanwhile, on the 21st, 3 units out of a total of 5 units were shut down due to shortage of coal. And only 2 units operated. Thus, the daily production of 630 MW of electricity was stopped. The Government of Tamil Nadu urged the Central Government to allocate the required coal to Tamil Nadu.

Due to the lack of coal, only the first unit of power generation took place from yesterday. This affected 840 MW of power generation. With the arrival of 29,000 tonnes of coal today, 2 more units have started generating electricity. At present power generation is taking place in three units 1,2,3.

Steps have been taken to procure 3,000 MW on short-term contract basis in April and May. 796 MW of electricity from the central pool to Tamil Nadu has not been provided for the last two days. Due to this, power outages have occurred in only 41 places. There have been 68 such power outages during the last AIADMK regime.

Minister Senthil Balaji, who met reporters recently, said the central government was not providing enough coal for its daily supply. Thus the contract to import 4 lakh 80 thousand tons of coal in Tamil Nadu has been finalized. He said steps have been taken to procure 3,000 MW of power on short-term contract basis in April and May.
