Coach Thanasis Staikos will be awarded by AE Ermionidas before Sunday’s Cup game with PAS Ioannina at Kranidi Stadium.
Mr. Staikos has coached both teams and on this occasion the home team will honor him. Thanasis Staikos, before coming to PAS in 2021 as an assistant to Heraklis Metaxas, was a coach and football player at Ermionidas AE as he comes from the village of Lygourio in Argolis. He spent one year in PAS as assistant to Iraklis Metaxas and another two years as coach of PAS in the Super League, until mid-December 2023 when he was replaced by Michalis Grigoriou after the defeat by Kifissia in Kaisariani. In the first season as coach 2022-23 he saved the lot of the stay, while in the second season the partnership ended midway.
for the Staikos award and for Sunday’s match against PAS Ioannina, AE Ermionidas announced the following: “AE Ermionidas will host PAS Ioannina on Sunday (15/9), at 16:30, at the Kranidi Municipal Stadium, for the 3rd phase of the Betsson Greek Cup, according to the information from the EPO.
This will be the first official game of our team for the 2024-25 season, against a brilliant club, which will take part in the Super League 2 championship and aims to be back in the “living rooms” of Greek football, while in the second phase of the competition, Spartakos Graikochorios (a team of the first division of EPS Thesprotia) prevailed with a score of 11-0, in the DAK Igoumenitsa.
Our club will say “good morning” to the new season with a great match, which has a historic and festive character for our team and all of Hermione. In this context, our club will award Thanasis Staikos, before the match’s half-time, for what the 43-year-old coach has contributed to AE Ermionidas, but also to Greek football in general.
Thanasis Staikos gave a lot to our team both as a player and as a coach. With consistency, hard work and team spirit, he achieved great things with our club, he is much loved by the world of Hermione, always remaining part of our family.
He started his coaching career from AE Ermionidas, having recently also sat on the bench of PAS Ioannina. “We are proud of the technician and the man Thanasis Staikos”, our club had emphasized in its announcement, when the 43-year-old technician took the big “step” coaching and took over “Ajax of Epirus”.
The matches of the 3rd phase of the competition are of a knockout nature and if necessary there will be overtime or even penalties.
