Disappointment for AEK tonight at Opap Arena, as they drew 1-1 with Lamia, missing many significant opportunities to secure the win.
Despite their dominance, AEK took a while to find their first major chance which came in the 26th minute. However, Koita was thwarted by Kostić, and in the 37th minute, Pineda’s header went wide.
Ultimately, it was Lamia who took the lead. In the 39th minute, after a prolonged play, the ball reached Furtado, who with a wonderful shot defeated Strakosha to make it 1-0. AEK tried to respond immediately, but two headers from Livayi failed to hit the target.
The hosts increased their pressure at the start of the second half, and Livayi Garcia missed two one-on-one opportunities to equalize.
In the 70th minute, Lamela missed a great chance to score, and finally, AEK equalized in the 87th minute when after a free kick from Lamela, Mukundi headed in for 1-1.
Five minutes later, the “yellow-blacks” came close to a complete turnaround, but after Eliason’s cross, Giannoutsos sent the ball crashing into his own team’s post with a diving attempt.
In the 96th minute, Matias Almeida’s team hit the post again!
Koita rattled the Lamia goal with a tremendous shot, and thus the match concluded, with AEK throwing away two precious points due to their inaccuracy.
