There are 16 flights with delays or cancellations at Aeroparque Jorge Newbery and more than 3,000 people are harmed by the forceful measure taken by the workers of the Intercargo company.

In addition, there are delays in the delivery of luggage. The affected flights belong to the companies JetSMART -mostly- and Latam, since they do not have their own ramp personnel.

Aerolíneas Argentinas and FlyBondi, which operate in the same aeronautical terminal, do have staff to carry out ramp tasks. That is why their activities are not being affected, according to TN journalist Norberto Dupesso.

The move was taken without prior notice.

“The measure of force was carried out without prior notice by the Intercargo workers, who are members of the Aeronautical Personnel Association,” they indicated in a statement from JetSMART.

“Intercargo is the state company that provides passenger transfer services and their luggage between the boarding area and the planes, among other activities. JetSMART is a client of Intercargo and does not have its own staff that has to do with the tasks that Intercargo performs or that may be within the APA union framework”, they added.

In turn, they added: “We regret these circumstances totally unrelated to the company and we ask passengers to follow and update the information regarding their flights in www.JetSMART.com or that they contact the customer service telephone center by dialing 11 2206 7799″.

The LatAm statement

“LATAM Airlines Group informs that, by virtue of a union measure carried out by workers of the Intercargo company, there are delays in the delivery of luggage and in flights to and from Aeroparque,” the statement begins.

In this sense, they added: “Intercargo, a state and monopoly company, provides ramp services and is responsible for transferring passengers and their luggage from the terminal to the planes and vice versa, among other actions.”

And they closed: “The company regrets the possible inconvenience that this situation could cause and suggests that all its passengers check the status of the flight and alternatives available through the website www.latam.com or the LATAM Airlines APP”.
