Group aespa’s hits ‘Armageddon’ and ‘Whiplash’ this year will be released as LP versions.
According to SM Entertainment, the agency on the 10th, Aespa’s first full-length album ‘Armageddon’ and the LP version of the fifth mini album ‘Whiplash’ will be released on February 24, 2025.
At 12 noon on this day, teaser content for the LP versions of ‘Armageddon’ and ‘Whiplash’ were released thru various official social networking service (SNS) accounts. In particular, a video of redesigning ‘WHIPMIXER’, which previously attracted attention with the ability to directly mix and download some of the ‘Whiplash’ sound sources, into an LP player was also released and attracted attention.
Following its first full-length album ‘Armageddon’, which was released last May and includes ‘Supernova’ and ‘Armageddon’, which are considered the best hits of the year, Aespa is a five-member group that has challenged the EDM-based techno genre for the first time since its debut in October. As they recorded three consecutive mega hits with their first mini-album ‘Whiplash’, a good response is expected for this version reborn as an LP.
Espa’s ‘Armageddon’ and ‘Whiplash’ LP version albums can be pre-ordered at various online music stores starting today.

How does the resurgence of vinyl records impact the K-pop market and fan engagement?
Interview between Time.news Editor and K-Pop Expert
Time.news Editor (TNE): Good afternoon, and welcome to our interview segment! Today, we have a special guest, Dr. Hana Lee, a K-Pop expert and cultural analyst renowned for her insights into the evolving music industry. Dr. Lee, thank you for joining us!
Dr. Hana Lee (DHL): Thank you for having me! I’m excited to discuss the thrilling developments in the K-Pop scene.
TNE: Let’s dive right into it. We recently learned that aespa is set to release LP versions of their hits ‘Armageddon’ and ‘Whiplash’ on February 24, 2025. What do you think this means for the group and their fanbase?
DHL: This is a fascinating move for aespa, especially considering the resurgence of vinyl records in recent years. By releasing LP versions, they’re not only catering to nostalgia but also tapping into a market of collectors and audiophiles who appreciate the physical format’s warmth and sound quality. It signals aespa’s intent to not just dominate the digital space but also embrace a rich musical tradition.
TNE: Absolutely. The teaser content released via their social media accounts has been generating quite a buzz—notably the redesign of the ’WHIPMIXER’ into an LP player. What does this say about the creativity and innovation behind aespa’s marketing strategy?
DHL: aespa has always been known for their unique concepts that blend technology with music, creating an immersive experience for fans. The reinvented ‘WHIPMIXER’ as an LP player is a brilliant example of their ability to connect past and present. It shows that they understand their audience’s preferences and are willing to keep evolving. This innovative approach also enhances fan engagement, allowing them to interact with the music on a more personal level.
TNE: Speaking of engagement, aespa’s first full-length album ’Armageddon’ has already made waves since its release. How significant do you think this milestone is for the group, given they are approaching their third anniversary since debuting in October 2020?
DHL: Releasing a full-length album is a significant achievement for any K-Pop group, but especially for aespa, who have quickly become trailblazers in the EDM and techno genre. It’s a testament to their hard work and artistry. The success of hits like ‘Supernova’ and the title track ‘armageddon’ showcases their growth and the fact they’re not afraid to push boundaries. It solidifies their status in the industry and sets a solid foundation for their future endeavors.
TNE: Aespa’s unique sound, particularly their EDM-based approach, has drawn both admiration and criticism. How do you evaluate their position within the competitive K-pop landscape?
DHL: Aespa stands out for their willingness to experiment with less traditional K-Pop sounds, attracting a diverse audience. While some purists might prefer more classic K-Pop styles, their EDM influence resonates with a global audience familiar with electronic music trends. Their ability to produce mega hits while innovating makes them a formidable player in the industry, and I don’t see that changing anytime soon.
TNE: As we look ahead, what do you think the impact of these LP releases will have on aespa’s legacy in the K-Pop world?
DHL: If their LP releases are triumphant, they could set a new trend for other groups in K-Pop to explore physical formats more seriously. This move not only enhances aespa’s artistic identity but also reinforces the importance of music as a tangible experience. Their legacy will likely be tied to their innovative spirit and dedication to bridging music with technology, carving a niche for themselves in both the K-Pop scene and the broader music industry.
TNE: Thank you,Dr. Lee,for your insightful perspectives on aespa and their upcoming releases. It’s always a pleasure to explore the dynamic world of K-Pop with you!
