/ A source in the Iraqi Football Association revealed on Wednesday that the Asian Football Confederation has banned player Amjad Atwan from representing the Iraqi national team for life after discovering that his passport was forged.

The source told Agency, “Amjad Atwan will not be on the Iraqi national team list from now on due to conflicting information about his real age in his previously issued passport and the current passport.”

He explained that “the Asian Football Confederation noticed the discrepancy in information in Atwan’s passports recently and made its decision to ban the player from representing the Iraqi national team.”

The source considered that “the Iraqi national team lost a player of good value, as he will be out of the upcoming lists of the national team after this mistake that was caused by an administrative factor,” stressing that “Atwan’s absence from the national team in the Asian Championship was not due to injury as was circulated, but rather because he was banned from representing Iraq due to different information in his passport.”
