jpnn.com – JAKARTA – The Indonesian U-19 National Team will face the Timor Leste U-19 National Team in the final match of Group A of the AFF U-19 Cup or ASEAN U-19 Boys Championship 2024 at the Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium, Surabaya, Tuesday (23/7).
Indonesian U-19 National Team coach Indra Sjafri prepared two game options when his team faced Timor Leste in the match.
In the training session at the THOR Field, Darmo, Surabaya, Monday (22/7) afternoon, Indra Sjafri prepared these options to anticipate Timor Leste’s game which could be played in a closed manner and aim for a counterattack, or play openly to pursue victory because they need full points to advance to the semifinals.
“There are two things that we might anticipate, from our possible responses to the match against Timor Leste,” said Indra.
“One, does he serve us with an open match, because he needs to win. Or are they realistic like Cambodia yesterday serving us who played defending. Today, we make a response or training session for how to be more fluid tomorrow,” he continued.
When facing Timor Leste who play a closed game with a tight defense, the 61-year-old coach emphasized that his players are not afraid.
According to him, the experience of winning the match against Cambodia, which played a tight match with a score of 2-0 in the second match, also increased the confidence of his players.
“With our experience yesterday, I think the boys are more confident to be able to face teams that play with deep defending,” he said.
