Employment of foreign workers has suffered in Gipuzkoa in recent months. Foreign membership declined again in November in the territory and has already seen two consecutive declines. Last month, in fact, according to data provided today by Social Security, 33,220 taxpayers were registered, or 354 fewer than in October.
A trend that contrasts with the good evolution of employment in general, which had three months of increases (September, October and November) and which even marked a new record in this last month when 340,260 taxpayers registered.
The decline in Gipuzkoa is the most pronounced in the Basque Country, as in Araba it also decreases, but to a lesser extent (-183), while in Bizkaia it increases by 115 members, leaving the Basque Country total at 97,673, which marks a decrease of 183 compared to the previous month.
Naturally, compared to the previous year, our territory gained 1,239 foreign affiliates, Bizkaia 3,241 and Araba 1,396. The Basque Country totals 5,876.
Statewide, the number of taxpayers also decreased in November by 17,658, to 2,876,972, which is 209,307 more than a year earlier.
Returning to our territory, 8,930 members come from European Union countries, while the remainder (24,290) come from other areas.
As regards gender, men are the majority, with 18,531, compared to 14,689 women. A trend that continues both among those coming from the EU and among those coming from other countries, even if in this case the distance is minimal.
