KABULAfghanistan’s central bank announced in a statement that it will inject $15 million into the local market on Monday to boost the national currency, the Afghani.

“Bidders, including money changers and private banks, will be required to deposit the required cash in the form of Afghani with the central bank, Bank of Afghanistan,” the statement said.

According to the information, the central bank requests that all eligible banks, exchange houses and money service providers participate in the auction.

The central bank also auctioned off $15 million last week.

The Afghan bank has pumped millions of US dollars into the foreign exchange market over the past two and a half years, with the aim of preventing the devaluation of the local currency.

Since assuming power in August 2021, the Afghan interim government has taken a number of measures to maintain the stability of the Afghani against foreign currencies.
