Afghanistan already has more than 2,000 dead and 9,000 injured after earthquake

More than 2,000 people died in a violent earthquake that hit western Afghanistan on Saturday (7), causing enormous damage, according to a new official report released this Sunday (8). The provisional balance also indicates around 9,000 injuries. The 6.3 magnitude earthquake, which struck areas 30 km northwest of the city of Herat, was followed by eight strong aftershocks.
