Afif Maulana’s Grave Exhumed, Forensic Doctors Collect 19 Samples for Re-Autopsy
On Thursday (8/8/2024), a team from the Indonesian Forensic and Medicolegal Doctors Association (PDFMI) collected 19 samples from the body of Afif Maulana (13), who was found dead under the Kuranji Bridge in Padang City.
Afif’s mother and father watched as the body was loaded into an ambulance to be reburied at Tanah Sirah TPU after being exhumed in Padang City, West Sumatra.
The family, accompanied by LBH Padang, suspects that the teenager died as a result of police abuse, as he was allegedly caught in a raid on a brawl.
“We have currently collected 19 samples for the purpose of a re-autopsy,” said PDFMI Team Leader Ade Firmansyah Sugiharto in Padang, West Sumatra.
Ade detailed the 19 samples, which included three hard tissues (bones) and 16 soft tissue samples.
All samples will be analyzed at the FKUI RSCM, the National Police Headquarters Forensic Laboratory, and the Airlangga University Forensic Laboratory.
Given the decomposed state of the samples, the autopsy and subsequent results are expected to take four to five weeks.
PDFMI requests patience from the public, especially the victims’ families, during this process.
