“African Lion 2023”: Utah National Guard Band Delights Agadir Audience

In a festive atmosphere, the public was there for a unique show brilliantly performed by the members of this US army group who treated music lovers to jazz rhythms with a colorful concert.

In a statement to MAP, the commander of the 23rd Band of the National Guard of the American State of Utah, Spencer Frohm, said he was happy to host with his colleagues this concert in Agadir, the 2nd of its kind in Morocco since 2010, expressing his thanks to the Royal Armed Forces (FAR) for their contribution to the success of this event.

As part of the celebration of the military exercise “African Lion 2023” which is held in accordance with the High Instructions of His Majesty the King, Supreme Commander and Chief of General Staff of the FAR, this show aims to further strengthen cultural exchanges between Morocco and the United States.

This artistic performance is also part of the commemorative activities of the 20th anniversary of bilateral cooperation between the FAR and the Utah State National Guard.

Composed of talented soldier-musicians, this group includes members of the American armed forces, having been specially selected for their abilities in improvisation and jazz arrangement.

This group of highly trained soldier-musicians performs musical pieces from a wide range of jazz styles.

The 23rd Utah National Guard Band regularly performs for senior U.S. military officials and their diplomatic guests as well as heads of state around the world.

“African Lion” is a combined joint exercise organized each year by the FAR and the American Armed Forces.

This exercise, which will continue until June 16, in seven regions of Morocco, namely Agadir, Tan-Tan, Mehbes, Tiznit, Kenitra, Benguerir and Tifnit, is intended to be an annual event that contributes to consolidating Moroccan-American military cooperation and also to strengthening the exchange between the armed forces of different countries with a view to promoting security and stability in the region.
